MECCG News

March 8, 2007-I've just not been able to keep this up, obviously. To find out what's going on, get to meccg.net forums. A lot of news there, as well as really good discussion.

  • March 8, 2004-There is a nice page for the for the main MECCG mailing list now at meccg.net, including recent archives.
  • February 28, 2004-My page rocks more than ever. My page sale and trade listings of all types is now automated. Much thanks to Wim Heemskerk! I've always been pretty good about keeping things up-to-date, but now it is easy to keep my site constantly updated. You can now send me an order (or offer me a trade) with complete confidence that it is not out of date. Also, on my singles page, you can filter for language, rarity, set, and edition. I now have prices for all non-rares.
  • February 25, 2004-You have got to check out GCCG. I had never gotten into playing MECCG over the internet, but people's enthusiasm about this new program got to me and I download it and fired it up. Soooooo cool. I actually played a few games and it very, very easy to play. In fact, many aspects of playing on-line make it easier than regular playing. What surprised me was that I still had a social experience with my opponent, and after the game still felt like I met someone. And this being MECCG, the people you meet while playing are cool. I urge you to take the (small amount of) time to download GCCG and install it. You will be surprised and pleased.
  • January 5, 2004-Check out a new feature at Morgul-rats. Click on Card of the Day and scroll to the bottom to see the Play of the Day Archives. This was prompted by a suggestion of Dave Stegman and Jean-Paul decided he'd host it. Give it a read, and then send Jean-Paul your Play of the Day.
  • May 29, 2003-Some new Mailing Lists you may want to know about. You should already know about the main MECCG mailing list. Additionally, we've set up a list for the Galadhrim. The Galadhrim are those who try to support and promote the game in North America. If you want to get more involved in MECCG, hear the latest of what's going on in the game in the U.S. and Canada, and find out the latest prize support available for sanctioned tournaments, check it out.
  • November 13, 2003-I'm back! I've been sortof up for a couple weeks, but I couldn't update my page because my provider went out of business. Before that, I was in the process of moving to Florida to Virginia, which took a lot of family logistics. I'm in my new house in Florida and Treebeard.com is back in business.
  • May 29, 2003-The North American Championships will be in Virginia, near Washington D.C., on the weekend of August 9th. It will be a part of the Middle Earth Festival, with other Middle Earth gaming too. Lot of beginner events. Check it out.
  • May 4, 2003-World Championships 2003 will be in Austria! On the weekend of August 16th. Check it out.
  • August 2, 2002-MECCG North American Championships coming! The weekend of August 18. Their page is up at here. I can't make it. So close. So close. You should go though. The time of your life. It will be fantastic. I know these guys, and they'll do a great job.
  • July 25, 2002-I've added Lord of the Rings CCG singles. See the trade section.
  • July 25, 2002-I've put together some "starter variety sets" for Decipher's Star Wars CCG. See the trade section. No, I'm NOT going to be getting into these other games like I am for MECCG. Don't have time. I might from time to time though do with some games what I'm doing now with SWCCG. Check it out, if you've ever thought of checking out SWCCG.
  • July 12, 2002-MECCG World Championships August 30 to September 1, Cologne, Germany! Check out the facts here. I can't make it. Arrrgh!
  • March 24, 2002-I've got 2-player starter boxes. (See the 'Other' secton.) This is the best way to learn the game. If you're interested in the game, get this! People talk about how hard this game is to learn. Well, I started with this and I was wondering what they were talking about. It seemed easy to me. A great way to learn the game.
  • March 21, 2002-I've been elected Chairman of the Council of Elrond. Far out.
  • March 2, 2002-Lidless Eye starter boxes are in! See my Lidless Eye section under Cards for Sale.
  • February 1, 2002-I've added Decipher Lord of the Rings TCG stuff. Well, sorta. See my sales section and click the obvious link.
  • January 28, 2002-I will be getting Lidless Eye starters by March 25. As you know, these are nearly impossible to get these days. See my sales section and click the obvious link.
  • December 20, 2001-Council of Lorien Status: Tournaments and play-groups are picking up again in the U.S. and Canada. It seems people are realizing that with no company support, things will only happen in their area if we make it happen. Tournaments are starting to show up at the CoL site. I know though that there are tournaments happening that aren't sent to CoL and sanctioned. People, sanction your tournaments! It's easy. Just let Chad Martin know about it beforehand and send him results afterwards. You can do any format you want, one deck, two deck, Hero-only, general opponent, Cards from certain sets only, pretty much anything you want. And by registering, you can get game-related items at a discount from me for prizes. See the CoL site for details.
  • November 3, 2001-James Kight continues to put out the MECCG Newsletter. Get issues 6 and all previous issues at the Dutch Council's download site.
  • November 1, 2001-The regular MECCG News List is back up. Send e-mail to listproc@silent-tower.org with the word 'help' in the body. You'll get a return e-mail saying how to subscribe, etc.
  • September 20, 2001-Big tournament near Washington DC on October 20-21, 2001: The Wellinghall Open. The main event is Sunday (the 21st): 2-deck Wizards-only. YOu can use any card, but your alignment must be hero. There will be tremendous prizes. Check out my page for it here. If you are a loser and hence not listed on the official player listings , then you might not hear about it, or any other tournaments we have.
There is a side scenerio tournament on the previous evening. Will be a lot of fun.
  • August 2, 2001-There are two relatively new sites that you have to check out. The Dutch Council has been terrific for a couple years, and now there's another fantastic Dutch Site,  Morgul Rats. These are probably the two best MECCG info sites on the web.
  • July 16, 2001-The World's Player Lists are now being coordinated. Make sure you're listed here. You could miss out on a lot of tournaments and miss a lot of potential opponents by not being listed. Don't be a dork! Sign up! I'm tired of people complaining they can't find opponents, or didn't hear about such-and-such tournament.
  • May 21, 2001-James Kight is re-starting up the MECCG Newsletter again. It should be out sometime this summer. Contact him if you want to submit an article. To get the past 4 issues of the Newsletter (full of great information), download them from the Dutch Council's download site. (You should check out this site anyway--best on the net for MECCG information.
  • May 17, 2001-The Council of Lorien is calling for Crown Guards! Since Iron Crown Enterprises went belly-up, there has been no organized tournament scene. But, that's changing. Tournaments are starting up again, and Crown Guards are needed to facilitate them. Crown Guards run sanctioned tournaments and have access to discounted (or free) prize support. If no one in your area is running tournaments and you're willing to do it, then contact Chad Martin. New to the game and worried that you don't understand all the nuances of the game? Don't let that stop you. People will help you.
  • May 1, 2001-The MECCG World Championships are coming to North America for the first time! For more information go here. This is pretty exciting for us Americans and Canadians, who previously have had to fly to Europe attend the world championships. The North American Nationals will be held at the same time (right after I think). I'll see you there. It will be a blast!
  • April 30, 2001-The Council of Lorien, the governing body of MECCG in North America is getting going again. Sanctioned tournaments are starting up again. If you are interested in running tournament, check out the CoL website and contact the Right Honorable Sir Chad Martin at col@treebeard.com. Discounted prize assistance is available. And
